Additionally, thank you to all of the people who attended and helped to organise the fundraising events. They were a great success and enjoyed by all.

Have a Go Day on the 3rd of June 2012

This fundraiser gave anyone the opportunity of “have a go” on a footbike.

Young and old joined in for a kick along the Nundah track.

Among the attendees was Brian Haupt who is vision impaired. Brian kicked the 400m circuit by following another footbiker who rang a bell, and was also accompanied by another footbiker who gave instructions.

Wine Tasting Fundraiser on 20 May 2012

A fun night was had tasting wine from the Clovely Estate Vineyard in the Burnett Valley without actually leaving Brisbane.

Over 2 hours, a selection of wines were tasted, each accompanied by a sumptuous selection of canapés.

Thank you to Clovely Estate for such a great outing.

Turkish Dinner & Music Fundraiser on 1 April 2012

Over 50 people enjoyed a delicious Turkish meal and sang along to the songs of the ‘60s with That 60’s Guy.

As always, the food was fantastic, and the music quickly had everyone singing along to tunes that included crowd-pleasers like “Raindrops keep falling on my head” and a full range of the Beetles.

Training Events for the World Champs

Men's Final Footbike Race 2012Training at UQ Athletics Track on the 22 April 2012

The first of several training sessions on an athletics track are planned to simulate conditions at the World Championships sprint event.

For the 400m event, competitors are timed individually to qualify for a place in the next round. From there it is “sudden death” sprint races with 2 out of 4 people going through to the next round.

Brissie To Bay 24 June 2012

6 Footbikers completed the Brissie To Bay fundraising event.

  • 4 did 25km
  • 2 did 50km

It was a very pleasant day and the Footbikers were pleased to be among the almost 5,000 riders in this event who raised over $800,000 for Multiple Sclerosis.

The day was used as a training session for the marathon distance event at the World Championships in July.
