Footbike Rider 2013Okay… mark them on your calendar and get those legs moving!

Saturday 9th February – 6am
26km Sandgate Taigum Circuit
Meet in the carpark in front of Doug’s Seafood café on Flinders St, by the Second Ave intersection in Sangate. We will go out via Shorncliffe, Deagon, Boondall and back via Taigum, Bracken Ridge, Brighton and the Sandgate beach front. Coffee and/or brunch afterwards at the Doug’s. All welcome.

Saturday 16th February – 6am
25km Griffith University Kick
Starting at Kangaroo point (Drive under the Captain Cook bridge along the bottom of Kangaroo point cliffs towards where they do the Rock climbing. We meet before the first set of toilets). The Course will be out to Griffith University and back. Coffee and/or Brekkie at Southbank.

Sunday 17th February – 9am
Kickbike Trial Day
NRG cycles at homemaker Centre, Jindalee. Come and try the different models and then do a couple of kms with us. Will include some technique training. Please pre-book, so that we can make sure you have a Kickbike. Stay a while longer for coffee afterwards at a Café at the Homemaker centre.

Sunday 24th February
Cycle of Giving fundraiser for the Prince Hospital Foundation
Options of 65km from Caboolture at 8am, 25km from Redcliffe at 9am or 10km from Boondall at 10am, all finishing at Chermside. The later start times will mean it will be warm, but you’ll be raising funds for “The Prince Charles Hospital foundation”. Bruce will be catching a train for the Caboolture start, and Lyn will be taking the van to the Redcliffe start. The finish is only about 1km from Bruce’s place, so anyone who wants to park their car there and travel to the start with Lyn, please book your seat early. There is room for 5 others, first in best dressed, Prices are $40 from Caboolture and $20 from Redcliffe and $10 from Boondall. Sunday 3rd March – 6am
Race day at Murarrie – 10km only (Novice category – 1 lap at 1.5km)
Same format as usual. First timers are welcome, as there is a novice category for all age groups. Registration at 6am and racing starts at 6.45am – Murarrie Recreational Reserve Wynnum Rd Murarrie (half way between Cannon Hill shopping centre and the gateway Motorway) Early bird fees if registered by 1st March AFA members $15 – Non Members $25 – Family members $60 – Family Non Members $100. Pre register by phoning Bruce on 0407 699884 otherwise $5 late entry fee added if registering on the day.

Saturday 9th March – 6am
22km  Newstead Run
Meet at Kangaroo point. (Drive under the Captain Cook bridge along the bottom of Kangaroo point cliffs towards where they do the Rock climbing. We meet by the first set of toilets.) From here we will head out over Story Bridge to New Farm and Breakfast Creek and return back via Newstead and Roma Street parklands. Breakfast at Southbank. All welcome.

Sunday 10th Match – 3pm
Kickbike Trial 4km to 8km – Minnippi Parklands
Meet at the car park on Meadowlands Road, opposite the entrance to Cadogan Street (Sign that says Canoe meeting point). Mainly flat, out and back course, so ideal for first timers. You can turn around whenever you are ready. The chance to try the Kickbike over a nice short distance. Please prebook (Ph Bruce 0407 699884) so that we can provide enough Kickbikes. Possibly a coffee afterwards.

    I live in Sydney and I would like to ask you if you know about any kickbike association or club based in Sydney or about any events in NSW. I assume that all the rides and races are in Brisbane. Is that right?
